LITTLE EAGLE WRESTLING CLUB - BRITT, IA

Membership is open to all area youth in kindergarten(age 5) through 8th grade. In addition to teaching members the fundamentals of Folkstyle wrestling, the club also provides incentives (free t-shirts,shorts,etc) and a team uniform for tournaments. The club pays the entry fee for a number of local tournaments along with AAU & USA Wrestling memberships and tournament fees for those that choose to compete at state and national competitions. We encourage members to participate in as many tournaments as their schedules will allow.

We charge no membership fees. We rely on our Sponsors and funds raised from our annual wrestling and golf tournaments as well as a food stand at the Britt Draft Horse Show. Parents and wrestlers are required to help with these activities.

We stress effort and sportsmanship over winning and losing. Every youngster that steps onto the mat, gives their best and displays good sportsmanship is a winner regardless of the match outcome.

Practices start November 30 and run through January with several holiday breaks. Kids who plan to compete at state and national levels will continue practices until those events are complete. Practices for K & 1st grades are held on Monday and Thursday evenings from 5:30 pm to 6:15 pm at the West Hancock High School wrestling room in Britt. Practices for 2nd - 8th grades are held Monday and Thursday from 6:15-7:00 pm.

If your child decides this is something they would like to do, they will learn much more than the basics of Folkstyle wrestling. They will set goals, build self-confidence and self-esteem, develop physically and emotionally, and learn good sportsmanship.
