Wrestlers work all season with one goal in mind – STATE!

The end of the regular season has come and gone and Saturday, March 8th was the beginning of the road to the Missouri State Folk-Style Championships.

The State tournament is for youth wrestler’s age 8 through 8th grade. LYW had 12 athletes that elected to compete at Districts for an opportunity to advance to Regionals.

On Monday night, March 3rd the Lathrop Youth Wrestling coaches, Steve DeFreis, Terry Osborn, Randy Wilson, Randy Hartzell, and Tim Mann attended the Seeding meeting for District 1. The Lathrop Youth Wrestlers were well represented and LYW took several of the top seeds in our District.

On Saturday, March 8th, Dawson Beane, Jacob Brock, Justin Wright, Grant Berg, Jacob Brock, Drake Higgins, Duke Allen, Jacob Glidewell, Josh Hartzell, Billy Nading, Tyler Mann, and Tyler Berg, arrived at the Parkville Athletic Complex ready to wrestle their way to the regional tournament.

The day held many huge wins and a few heart breaking losses but all of our wrestlers stepped on the mat every bout with determination, pride and skill and represented Lathrop well. The top 6 medalist in each age and weight advances to the regional tournament. Nine of the original tweleve secured their place in the Region A tournament.

The Region A tournament was held on Saturday, March 15th at Park Hill High School.

The top four medalist in each age and weight advances to the State tournament for the opportunity to compete for the State Championship; which will be held at the Hearnes Arean in Columbia on March 28th- 30th:
