Here are the rules to whichwe to conform in order to play this sport.
Competition Rules:
The ASME requirements are summarized as follows:
· "No energy storage devices of any kind may be included in any competing vehicle; that is, no device… specifically designed to store energy for the purpose of propelling the vehicle shall be included in the drive train." (HPV rules, p. 3)
· Maximum braking distance, 15 mph - 0 mph: 20 ft (HPV rules, p. 4)
· Maximum turn radius: 25 ft (HPV rules, p.4)
· Full or partial fairing covering at least 1/3 of frontal area of vehicle and at least an 8˝ x 11 inch area on the sides (HPV rules, p. 3)
· Rollover protection must ensure that the rider's head will not touch the ground in rollover condition. Protection "will be at least equivalent to chrome-molybdenum steel tubing with an outer diameter of 1.5 inch and a wall thickness of no less than 0.049 inches" (HPV rules, p. 5)
· Seatbelt and shoulder harness of "automotive quality" (HPV rules, p. 5)
· Helmet that meets ANSI Standard Z90.4 (HPV rules, p. 5)
· All surfaces of the vehicle, both exterior and interior must be free from sharp edges and protrusions.
